Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito "Jonkie" Ouano has assured that residents most affected by Typhoon Tino will be celebrating Christmas with roofs over their heads.

Ouano said that starting this week, evacuees who are still staying in evacuation centers will soon be transferred to the "Tent City" that will be built in Barangay Guizo.

"Ato ng paningkamotan," Ouano said in a text message to The FREEMAN, assuring that the victims will not have to stay in evacuation centers during the Christmas season.

The city government is setting up a temporary shelter at Pasilong sa Paradise to accommodate families whose houses were totally damaged when Typhoon Tino hit Cebu last November 4.

Ouano said that as of yesterday, December 8, groundwork at the site has already been completed, allowing the installation of family tents to begin this week.

He added that the city is ready to start putting up the initial family tents, while the modular housing units will follow soon after. An official notice will be issued through the City Social Welfare Services to the intended beneficiaries for their transfer.
