COMPARED TO JAN-MAY 2024 PERIOD
-
The Mandaue City Health Office (MCHO) has reported a 10% increase in dengue cases from January 1 to May 7 this year compared to the same period last year, with one recorded fatality.
Dr. Frenzy Antonette Tadle, medical coordinator for Aedes-borne Viral Disease Prevention and Control, shared the update during a coordination meeting of Task Force Dengue held in Mandaue City. The meeting focused on prevention strategies, the current dengue situation, and related health initiatives.
As of May 7, 2025, Mandaue City has recorded 248 dengue cases, including one death. Barangay Canduman logged the highest number of cases, with 21.
"We are beginning to see an increase in dengue cases in our city," said Tadle.
She noted that the 10% rise in cases was expected, and the MCHO had already anticipated a potential outbreak this year. However, due to early cleanup efforts and strong awareness campaigns, the increase has remained relatively minimal.
