Jonkie Ouano plans to conduct audit of Mandaue City's finances

Mandaue City Mayor-elect Thadeo Jovito "Jonkie" Ouano said he plans to conduct an audit of Mandaue City’s financials as one of his priorities when he officially assumes office on July 1, 2025.

“We have to do an audit on the financial standings of the city,” said Ouano.

Ouano said he had received reports that the current administration hired an excessive number of job order (JO) employees, which he intends to investigate.

“We've heard ever since that over-over daw ang mga job orders,” Ouano told reporters at the Cebu Provincial Capitol on May 13, 2025.

He also revealed that the current administration had established an office — the Purok Development Office — allegedly to accommodate purok leaders.

“We will have to look into that first,” he said.

He clarified that if the audit confirms the qualifications of the workers, they will be retained.

However, if they are found unqualified, they will have to be let go to safeguard the city’s resources.
