Impeachment case vs. Marcos now in motion
The Freeman
|January 27, 2026
The two verified impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. were referred to the justice committee during Congress’ plenary session on Monday, January 26.
-
The referral followed the Committee on Rules' inclusion of both complaints in the Order of Business, which the Office of the Secretary General read aloud between lawmakers’ privilege speeches as part of the Additional Reference of Business.
Deputy Speaker Yevgeny Vicente "Bambi" Emano (Misamis Oriental, 2nd District) presided over the session and announced the complaints’ referral to the Committee on Justice, effectively initiating the impeachment proceedings against the president.
