Homegrown apparel firm braces for global relaunch
The Freeman
|August 05, 2025
Cebu-born Golden ABC, the parent of iconic fast-fashion label Penshoppe, is gearing up for a robust international relaunch following the pandemic-induced retrenchment.
With six brands—Penshoppe, Oxygen, Regatta, Memo, ForMe, and the recently launched Bocu—the group is set to resume physical retail expansion across Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa.
In an interview, Golden ABC Vice-President for Strategy and Operations Bryan Liu confirmed the group’s intention to strategically reenter foreign markets via joint ventures, strategic partnerships or wholly-owned stores.
Golden ABC maintains an online footprint across borders but plans to establish more brick-and-mortar presence over the coming years to capture youth-driven markets with demographic and consumption patterns similar to the Philippines.
This revival of global ambitions follows the forced closure of overseas outlets—including in China—during the pandemic, creating a renewed urgency to capitalize on recovery in emerging economies.
Penshoppe, Golden ABC’s flagship label, is preparing for its 40th anniversary in 2026 with plans to deepen engagement with Gen Z and the nascent Gen Alpha cohort.
