At least 11 individuals and a family were displaced after a fire broke out yesterday dawn in R. Arcenas Street, Sitio Sta. Ana Capaculan, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, leaving an estimated damage of P2.52 million.

- Nicholas Jon Malaga/BRP

According to the Cebu City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire hit a two-story residence that also served as a boarding house around 3:48 A.M. The fire was raised to first alarm at 3:55 A.M.

It was declared under control by 4:33 A.M. and fully extinguished at 4:45 A.M., after almost an hour of firefighting by responding units from the BFP and neighboring barangays.

The affected residence was owned by 67-year-old Luciano Mabano, who said that he and his family were asleep when the fire began. He said they were only alerted to the fire when their neighbors thumped on their gates.
