Fil-German elated to nab title for Asturias

Her German surname might still entail some practice to pronounce and double-checking to spell, much like Pia Wurtzbach's was before she became a household name. But if Stefanie Collamar Przewodnik's winning streak is any indication, soon, even non-pageant fans will have no difficulty getting her name right.

The 21-year-old Filipina-German, who represented Asturias Dance Troupe of the Municipality of Asturias, Cebu was the runaway favorite at Friday's Sinulog Festival Queen finals held at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Apart from the title, she snared a lion's share the awards, including the major ones such as Miss Photogenic, Best in Production Number, and Best in Solo Performance. She was also hailed Best in Runway at the preliminary round held January 14 at Seaside City.

"When I was called, my mind was just blank. All I could think about was 'Thank you, Señor Santo Niño!'," Przewodnik told The FREEMAN after she was announced successor to Lapu-Lapu City's Sofi Maxim Grenmo.

"It's been a prayer and dream of mine. It's also my team's prayer. Every time, before we go on stage, we'd always pray for His guidance and strength. I'm just so happy that I was able to show my devotion, love, and faith for Señor Santo Niño and the entire Cebu."
