The Cebu Provincial Government has received the largest amount of financial assistance and response aid so far for victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu.

A Japanese firm, Nissen Kaiun Co. Ltd., has donated $1 million (P58 million) for the province’s quake victims.

"Of the total amount, P30 million has been downloaded to the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, while the remaining balance will be utilized by the company in its own continuing relief operations," the Capitol said.

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro personally received the check from Chief Engr. Alexander Pineda, president of Cebu Ace Maritime International Inc., who represented Capt. Katsuya Abe, president of Nissen Kaiun.
