Archival eyes more evaluation on fast-food structure's breach
The Freeman
|August 23, 2025
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival said another assessment would be conducted before deciding on the fate of a fast-food chain structure that is reportedly encroaching on the sidewalk in the downtown area of the city.
A resolution approved in the City Council provides that the order to remove the structure will depend on the mayor’s signature.
Archival, for his part, said he had ordered an updated assessment of the structure, while admitting that it indeed protruded onto the sidewalk. However, he noted that due to the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project, the sidewalk has been extended.
“Ang akong gitan-aw, naay dakong sign dinha nga dugay na kaayo na sya,” said the mayor.
In line with this, he tasked City Administrator Albert Tan to assess the property’s details in coordination with the Cebu Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (CHAC). He added that it has been observed that the structure is one of the oldest edifices in the city.
