Archival aims to plant 250,000 trees

As part of his environmental advocacy, Cebu City mayor-elect Nestor Archival said he wants to plant 250,000 trees under his term.

Archival emphasized that tree planting is a cause close to his heart.

"It’s very close to my heart kanang planting of trees. During the time of mayor (Edgardo) Labella, sa pagsugod gyud niya, he was targeting three million trees. Pero sa ako nga time, I will be targeting less probably gamay ra," Archival said during the city’s World Environment Day celebration last Thursday at Plaza Independencia.

Archival also recalled that the late Mayor Labella had set a goal of planting three million trees.

After Labella, then mayor Michael Rama also initiated his own tree-planting activities, but with no exact target figures.

Archival, for his part, has opted for a more focused target.
