Accountants rally behind magna carta

The Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PhALGA) has declared its full support for the proposed Magna Carta for Local Government Accountants, a measure filed by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.
During its national assembly in Cebu City on September 18, 2025, PhALGA officials stressed that the magna carta is a “long-overdue recognition” of the critical role accountants play in promoting fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability in government.
“Government accountants are the guardians of public funds, carrying heavy responsibilities while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations,” the association said.
PhALGA emphasized that the proposed magna carta isn't only for the welfare of accountants but also for advancing good governance and strengthening local institutions.
