80 CICLs complete ALS program

Close to 80 children in conflict with the law (CICLs) housed at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) in Barangay Canbanua, Argao, Cebu have successfully completed the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) over the past three academic years.

This figures included 24 recent completers who passed the accreditation and equivalency (A&E) test, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7).

The ALS program offers a flexible and accessible alternative to formal education for out-of-school children, youth, and adults (OSCYAS).

Those who pass will receive a Junior High School ALS completion certificate—an important milestone for CICL with suspended sentences, as it allows them to continue their education while undergoing rehabilitation.

The latest batch of completers began their ALS journey on August 2, 2024, attending weekly classes every Wednesday at the RRCY Elementary School located within the center’s premises.
