225 quake-hit families receive housing aid

A total of 225 families affected by the recent earthquake in San Remigio, Cebu received housing assistance yesterday, November 27, through the Post-Earthquake Recovery Assistance Program of the Aboitiz Foundation which aims to help residents rebuild their damaged homes and restart their lives.

In a ceremonial turnover at the San Remigio gymnasium, Welfredo Dalumpines, Aboitiz Foundation's Impact Lead for Climate Action, said the initiative provides beneficiaries with construction materials, cement, and cash assistance for labor to support home repairs, depending on the extent of damage to their houses.

Dalumpines said that of the 225 beneficiaries, 168 received assistance for partially damaged houses, while 57 families with totally damaged homes were given full recovery packages.

Under the program, families whose houses were partially damaged received a package worth P10,000, which includes P3,500 for cement, P3,500 for construction materials, and P3,000 in cash for labor expenses.

Families whose homes were declared totally damaged received assistance worth P30,000, consisting of P12,000 worth of cement, P12,000 for construction materials, and P6,000 in cash for labor.

AboitizPower Distribution Utilities Chief Operating Officer Anton Perdices, in his message during the turnover of assistance, acknowledged the loss experienced by the local government unit led by Mayor Mariano Martinez.
