SC: We don't interfere in eco policy matters

Chief Justice of India B R Gavai on Saturday underlined that the judiciary has been a steady guardian of the rule of law and has maintained a careful distance from policy issues involving economic considerations unless they breach constitutional provisions or fundamental rights.

Addressing the Sixth Full Meeting of the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts, Gavai said the Supreme Court has upheld transparency and integrity in corporate and commercial matters, firmly rejecting any misuse of legal or corporate frameworks for fraudulent purposes.

"The Supreme Court has ensured that it does not interfere in policy matters with economic implications unless there is a violation of fundamental rights or other provisions of the Constitution," he said.
