ECMS unlocks large investments

India's electronics manufacturing ambitions received a fresh boost after the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) approved 22 proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving a projected investment of Rs 41,863 crore and the creation of nearly 33,800 direct jobs.

The latest approvals follow an earlier clearance of 24 applications worth Rs 12,704 crore, taking the total number of sanctioned proposals under the scheme to 46. Cumulatively, these projects are expected to attract investments of Rs 54,567 crore and generate direct employment for about 51,000 people across 11 states, the government said.
