Youth trainees launch hunger protest

A large number of trainees working under the Chief Minister’s Youth Work Training Scheme in Maharashtra have launched an indefinite hunger strike, alleging that the government has failed to fulfil its pre-assembly election promise of permanent employment.

The protest has begun in Nashik under the leadership of Tukaram Baba Maharaj, with participants adopting a symbolic ‘Kumbh Mela-style demonstration.

The trainees said that despite completing 11 months of training, the government has not provided a clear employment path, leaving their future uncertain. They also alleged that the certificates issued after the training are not recognised for other jobs.
