REPORT SUBMITTED| In an affidavit, civic body told HC probe showed negligence by drivers, roads were in ‘good condition’

- Urvi Mahajani

The Thane Municipal Corporation has told the Bombay High Court that several fatal accidents reported in the city were caused by “rash and negligent driving” and not due to potholes or poor road conditions.

In an affidavit filed by city engineer Prashant Sonagra, TMC said it had complied with the court' earlier directions to constitute a compensation committee for deaths and injuries arising from road accidents. The affidavit was submitted in response to proceedings initiated after media reports linked multiple fatalities to potholes in Thane.
