Stenographer’s bail rejected in ₹15 lakh judge bribery case

The special court for corruption cases on Monday rejected the bail plea of Chandrakant Hanumant Vasudev, a stenographer posted at a court in Mazgaon centre, who was arrested on November 10 for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs15 lakh in exchange for a favourable verdict in a land dispute case.

Vasudev was caught redhanded while accepting a bribe of Rsl5 lakh from the complainant. Soon after accepting the bribe amount, he called session judge Aejazuddin S. Kazi to inform him that the bribe amount had been received by him. The police are now looking for Kazi as his residence was found locked.
