October: Month of the Holy Rosary

October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary in the Catholic Church, with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary celebrated on October 7. Throughout the month, the faithful are encouraged to pray the rosary daily—both privately and publicly—seeking peace, strength, and protection through the intercession of the Virgin Mary.

At the heart of the rosary lies the Hail Mary, a prayer of praise and petition. It honours Mary as the Mother of God and seeks her intercession for grace, comfort, and guidance. Catholics believe that through Mary’s maternal care, they are drawn closer to Jesus. The Hail Mary is not worship of Mary but a request that she, with her unique closeness to Christ, prays for the faithful.
