Metro, dam setbacks dominate anti-Govt narrative

The general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, has sharply criticised the state cabinet led by M. K. Stalin over two high-profile infrastructure issues: the Union government's rejection of metro rail proposals for the cities of Coimbatore and Madurai, and the dismissal of the state's petition against the Mekedatu dam project by the Supreme Court of India.

Palaniswami accused the ruling party of mishandling detailed project reports for the metro projects, suggesting that the earlier AlIADMK government had laid groundwork which the current regime stalled. He argued that the state’s submissions failed to satisfy the criteria of the central government, thereby giving the centre scope to dismiss the proposals.
