The finding emerges amid intensifying probes into the disappearance of gold originally entrusted to him.

- HD Bureau

The Vigilance wing of the Travancore Devaswom Board has concluded that Unnikrishnan Potty, the principal backer of the gold coverings on the Sabarimala temple's Dwarapalaka idols, lacks any steady or verifiable source of income.

This finding emerges amid intensifying probes into the disappearance of gold originally entrusted to him.

The Vigilance report, examined by the Kerala High Court during its suo motu monitoring of the case, indicates that Potty’s tax submissions from 2017 through 2025 did not disclose any sustained earnings. For the fiscal year 2025-26, it notes a credit of 210.85 lakh to his bank account attributed to “Other Social or Community Service,’ ostensibly from Kamakshi Enterprises.
