State granted 48 seaplane routes for connectivity push

The state government has secured approval for 48 seaplane routes from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, marking a significant step for tourism and inland-waterway connectivity in the state, announced Tourism Minister P. A. Muhammad Riyas.

The minister noted that the state is actively preparing the infrastructure required for seaplane operations, with multiple carriers already granted route permissions.

The routes have been authorised under the state's framework to tap its abundant water bodies—reservoirs, backwaters and dams—that present a compelling case for seaplane connectivity.

Major operators such as SpiceJet, India One Air, MEHAIR and PHL Airlines already hold permissions to utilise these newly-allocated routes.
