RBI policy, festival-season tailwinds boost mkt sentiment

After a period of rangebound trading, the market closed on a positive note on Friday, supported by gains in metal and consumer durables stocks.
Reflecting the positive market breadth, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 223.86 points to close at 81,207.17. The 50-share NSE Nifty settled 57.95 points higher at 24,894.25. Power Grid, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, L&T, Bharat Electronics and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers. The positive impact of the central bank's bold initiatives to boost credit growth in the economy has the potential to sustain the momentum in the market, particularly in Bank Nifty. But this momentum is unlikely to sustain in the context of the sustained FII selling in the mark
