Hindu group protests Dargah flag

A petition filed by members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi to the district collector in Madurai has called for prohibition of a ceremonial flag being hoisted near the Sikandar Badusha Dargah on Thiruparankundram Hill.

The petitioners argued that the flag, associated with the annual Santhanakoodu festival, is being raised on the “kallathi tree” near the dargah, in opposition to what they describe as the site’s shared heritage and longstanding custom.
