ED cites phone data in Tasmac probe

Electronic data recovered from the mobile phone of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation managing director S. Visakan has pointed to the alleged involvement of film producer Akash Baskaran and his associate Vikram Ravindran in a money laundering offence linked to the Tasmac scam, the Directorate of Enforcement told the Madras High Court on Thursday.

The disclosure was made before the first Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G. Arul Murugan during the hearing of petitions connected to the enforcement action. Appearing for the agency, special public prosecutor N. Ramesh said the digital material formed part of evidence gathered during a search and seizure operation conducted at the Tasmac headquarters in Chennai in March 2025.
