Congress cadres across the state launched coordinated demonstrations after police attack against Vadakara MP Shafi Parambil sparked outrage.

Violence broke out in Perambra when rival rallies by Congress and CPM supporters converged, _ prompting police to intervene with lathis and tear gas. Shafi Parambil sustained injuries to his face and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Kozhikode. Reports suggest the MP required surgery spanning three hours. Congress leaders allege he was deliberately targetted by police acting under political influence.
