Codeine syrup smuggling network busted

A major narcotics racket involving the illegal supply of codeine-based cough syrup has been uncovered in Uttar Pradesh, extending across state and national borders to Nepal and Bangladesh.
The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) investigation revealed that two Lucknow-based firms — Arpic Pharmaceuticals and Edhika Lifesciences — distributed the syrup through fake invoices and bogus licenses.
