Canada theatres baulk at screening Indian films

Several theatres in Canada have suspended the screening of Indian movies after a series of arson and shooting incidents targeting cinema halls in the past week.

York Cinemas on Friday announced that it would no longer be showing Indian films “until further notice,” citing security concerns.

“Dear Patrons, Please note that, due to recent incidents, we will not be screening Indian movies until further notice. This decision has been made with the safety of our employees and guests in mind. Advance ticket purchases will be refunded, and the amount should appear in your account within a few business days,” the company said in a statement.
