The HC on Nov 15 had set a deadline for 500 pending criminal cases against sitting and former legislators

The special MPs and MLA court has begun the hearing of the pending cases, as per the deadline set by the Bombay High Court (HC).

The court has recently framed charges in a few of the cases, to begin the trial and insisted prosecution must expedite the hearing in other cases.

A bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice NJ Jamadar, on November 15, had set a deadline for 500 pending criminal cases against sitting and former MPs and MLAs in Maharashtra, Goa and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
