Vijay to resume campaign with Salem rally next month

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will resume its campaign in the first week of December as part of a renewed outreach drive ahead of the forthcoming legislative elections.

Party chief Vijay has filed for permission to hold a major public meeting on 4 December in Salem, with the event marking the first significant mobilisation since the deadly rally in Karur in September that claimed 41 lives.

The party has proposed three potential venues for the Salem gathering: Salem Fort Grounds, Bose Grounds and an open field in Seelanaickenpatti. “We have submitted a petition seeking permission for our party gathering on 4 December in the city,’ said district secretary ‘Tamilan’ Parthiban.

The organisers emphasise compliance with the High Court directive, which bans rallies along state or national highways until new crowd-control SOPs are finalised.
