Satheesan, addressing reporters in Kannur, insisted that the CPM’s resurgence of the sexual-harassment issue was a deliberate strategy to divert scrutiny from the high-profile Sabarimala gold theft case and to shield party members implicated in that scandal.

Satheesan stressed that the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee had already taken organisational action against Mamkootathil after internal deliberations. He argued that punishing the legislator again for the same allegations would amount to double jeopardy.
