Dangerous boat-ride: 25 kids cross Chambal daily to go to school

In Antari Khurd village of Mandsaur district, more than 25 children cross the dangerous Chambal river daily to attend Government Higher Secondary School in Antribuzurg, Neemuch district.

The river is three-kilometre wide and filled with crocodiles, making the journey life-threatening.

The school management, led by Principal Yuvraj Chandel, has made parents sign an affidavit on a Rs 50 stamp paper stating that the school will not be responsible if any accident occurs during the boat journey.

This shocking move raises questions about the value placed on these children's lives.

The children face many dangers: no life jackets, no rescue teams and no safety guides accompany them.
