|May 02, 2025
The conflict over watersharing between Punjab and Haryana has escalated into a full-blown political standoff, with both Chief Ministers issuing strong and contrasting statements over Punjab's refusal to release Haryana's full share of water from the Bhakra dam.
With the Punjab Government ordering tighter security at the regulator's end of the Nangal dam, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Siani has accused his Punjab counterpart Bhawant Mann of on dancing to the tune of Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal. He asked Mann to take inspiration from saints who offered water to everyone.
During an interaction with the media persons, Saini accused the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of politicising the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) decision to allocate 8,500 cusecs of water to Haryana terming the move as Dirty Politics ahead of elections.
"Punjab is the land of saints, and its people used to offer water to everyone.
