VP Election: BJP, Opposition step up preparations

In the run-up to the Vice Presidential election on 9 September, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened a two-day workshop for its MPs in Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a striking gesture by sitting in the last row "like a common worker."

The workshop, which began on Sunday, opened with registration, lighting of lamps, Vande Mataram and a cultural programme.

Discussions centred on "Developed India by 2027" and the "Effective use of social media." In the afternoon, MPs broke into committees to deliberate on agriculture, defence, energy, railways and transport, while also receiving training on parliamentary rules, time management, and preparations for the upcoming session.
