The Spiritual Side of Happiness: Why Inner Peace Matters More Than Success
The Daily Guardian
|April 08, 2025
Everyone wants happiness in life! Happiness is a universal human desire, yet it means different things to different people.
For some, happiness might be found in external achievements, relationships, or material possessions, while for others, it is a deeper, more internal state of contentment and peace. Throughout history, philosophers, spiritual leaders, and scientists have pondered the true nature of happiness, seeking to understand what makes life truly fulfilling and happy.
At its core, happiness is often seen as a positive emotional state characterized by joy, contentment, fulfillment, and a sense of well-being. However, happiness is much more than just fleeting pleasure or momentary satisfaction. True happiness is built on a strong foundation of peace, which is experienced with contentment and a sense of fulfillment in life. Happiness can be a lifelong pursuit, shaped by our attitudes, behaviors, and how we connect with ourselves and the world around us. Happiness, thus, can be psychological, scientific, or even spiritual in nature—sometimes blending all these elements together.
Focusing on the spiritual element of happiness, I can say that we have misspelled the word 'happiness'. 'Happiness' should have 3 Ps in it instead of the usually written 2 Ps—each P representing the three peaks of happiness. The first P stands for pleasure, the first peak of happiness that comes from the worldly material possessions, wealth, people, relationships, and various achievements, but this pleasure is ephemeral, a fleeting feeling of happiness. It fades away as quickly as it builds up.
