Punjab Govt Withdraws Land Pooling Policy, Reverses All Related Actions

Farmers, Oppn called it a land grab disguised as public development

The Punjab Government has officially withdrawn its Land Pooling Policy dated May 14, 2025, along with all subsequent amendments. According to a press note issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the decision mandates that all actions taken under the policy—including Letters of Intent (LOIs) issued, land registrations completed, or any other measures executed—will now be reversed.

The press note, signed by the Principal Secretary of the department, marks an abrupt policy reversal, effectively nullifying months of administrative steps and land transactions undertaken under the contentious scheme. Lately, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had put a one-month stay on this land pooling policy. Moreover, many opposition parties were planning protests against the policy.
