Over 8,300 mines were given five-star rating: Minister

The Indian Bureau of Mines launched star-rating of mines in August 2016 as an effective implementation tool of the sustainable development framework and a total of 8,371 mines were given five-star rating during the period between 2014-15 to 2022-23, coal and Mines minister G Kishan Reddy said on Monday.

In a written reply to a question by Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma, Reddy said during last five field seasons, i.e., from FS: 2020-21 to 2024-25, GSI has taken up six mineral exploration programmes on REE-RM, base metals
