Mayawati courts Brahmins, signals solo run in 2027

BSP Supremo Mayawati addresses a press conference on her 70th birthday at party office, in Lucknow on Thursday. ANI

Addressing a press conference on her 70th birthday, Mayawati trained her guns on all major rivals — the BJP, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress — and ruled out any immediate plans for alliances.

Often accused of tacitly backing the BJP, Mayawati on Thursday openly criticised the party's government in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of neglecting the Brahmin community. She said Brahmins were given due respect and adequate political representation during her tenure as chief minister.
