Journalist's house razed in Jammu, political storm erupts

A demolition drive in Jammu has triggered a major political row after the house of journalist Arfaz (Arafaz) Ahmad Daing was razed by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), prompting sharp condemnation from PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and accusations of targeted action from opposition parties.
Daing’s house in Transport Nagar was demolished on Thursday as part of a JDA operation against alleged illegal structures. A large police contingent was present during the action. Authorities said the building stood on encroached JDA land, but Daing claimed he was being singled out for his reporting, including work on cross-border drug trafficking. He said the structure was built 40 years ago by his father and that he had moved in last year after his previous home was demolished.
