ISRO'S VISIONARY PATH TO SPACE SUCCESS

On January 29, 2025, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a monumental milestone with the successful launch of the GSLV-F15 mission, marking its 100th rocket launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This accomplishment underscores India's significant strides in space exploration and reflects the dedication and vision that have propelled ISRO to its current stature.

THE GENESIS OF INDIA'S SPACE ENDEAVOR

India's journey into space research commenced in the early 1960s, a period marked by global advancements in space technology.

Recognizing the potential of space science for national development, the Indian government established the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) in 1962 under the Department of Atomic Energy. This initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a visionary physicist often referred to as the father of the Indian space program.

INCOSPAR's primary objective was to harness space technology for peaceful purposes and to address the socio-economic challenges of the nation. The committee focused on developing indigenous capabilities in space science, laying the groundwork for future advancements.

THE MAIDEN LAUNCH: RH-75 SOUNDING ROCKET

On November 20, 1967, India marked its entry into space research with the launch of the RH-75 sounding rocket. This modest beginning was a significant achievement, demonstrating the nation's commitment to developing its space capabilities. The RH-75 was designed for atmospheric studies, providing valuable data that would inform future projects.

The success of this initial launch was a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of the Indian scientific community. Despite limited resources, the team showcased remarkable resilience, setting the stage for more ambitious endeavors.
