When an organ or tissue inside the body pushes through a weak area in the muscle or tissue wall around it, this is called a hernia. Surgery normally fixes the problem, but it can come back, especially if the healed area is still under stress from lifestyle choices or medical conditions. To stop it from happening, you need to follow up with your doctor, be mindful of your body, and stick to a daily routine.

WHY HERNIAS COME BACK

Recurrent hernias frequently arise from unresolved muscular weakness or elevated intra-abdominal pressure. Chronic coughing, constipation, obesity, heavy lifting, and smoking are some of the things that make it worse. In some circumstances, bad wound healing, surgery that causes an infection, or bad surgical skill can also make things worse. People who have diabetes, long-term respiratory problems, or not enough nutrients are more likely to get hurt because these problems slow down tissue healing and make muscles weaker.

HEALING AND CARE AFTER SURGERY

The first few months after hernia surgery are very important for healing. The area that was fixed is still weak, and too much movement or pressure can destroy the work of the surgeon. Patients should not lift heavy things or excessive bending over for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Support belts can assist ease strain, especially in abdominal or inguinal hernias, but they can't replace muscle strength.
