Delhi riots case: Court denies bail to three UAPA accused

Despite the Supreme Court granting bail to five accused in the 2020 Delhi riots larger conspiracy case earlier this month, a Delhi court on Thursday denied bail to three other co-accused facing nearly similar charges.

Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai rejected the bail pleas of Athar Khan, Salim Malik and former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain, holding that a prima facie case had already been made out against them in earlier orders and that the statutory bar on bail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) continued to apply.
