Congress announces nationwide stir against price rise and ‘Seat Chori’

The Congress on Thursday announced a nationwide agitation against rising prices, unemployment, paper leaks and alleged electoral manipulation, accusing the BJP of undermining democratic institutions and failing to address the economic distress faced by ordinary citizens.

The campaign, expected to continue for the next two to three months, will be organised at the national, state, district and block levels. Its detailed schedule will be announced in the coming days, with party leaders and workers directed to take to the streets and reach out to people affected by inflation, jobless-ness and examination-related controversies.

The decision was taken at a three-hour meeting of Congress general secretaries, state in-charges and Pradesh Congress Committee presidents at the party headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
