Cong all set to reboot party in Haryana

Ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit, the Congress high command has taken direct control over the long-stalled appointment of District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents in Haryana aiming to rejuvenate the party's organisational machinery ahead of the next electoral battle.

The appointments will be made after an 11-year gap and under a completely overhauled process that sidelines state-level discretionary powers.

With Rahul Gandhi scheduled to visit Chandigarh on June 4, the buzz within the party has peaked. According to Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Udai Bhan, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress MP will chair high level meetings with All India Congress Committee (AICC)-appointed observers and senior state functionaries to expedite the restructuring process. "His visit will direct and energise the organisational work in Haryana," Bhan said.
