ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOODS FOR ARTHRITIS AND JOINT PAIN
The Daily Guardian
|October 22, 2025
Arthritis is a prevalent health concern in India.

Over 195 million people in the country suffer from arthritis-related pains. Women are particularly susceptible to it. Arthritis is characterised by joint pain, inflammation, and stiffness, which affects the mobility, restricting daily activities. Excess consumption of sugar, saturated fat, sodium, and processed foods can trigger inflammation, increasing joint pain. These foods are low in nutrients and can increase inflammatory markers. Focusing on anti-inflammatory foods can help strengthen joints, reduce inflammation, and ease symptoms of arthritis.
TURMERIC
Turmeric contains the active compound curcumin, which acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, reducing oxidative stress. Curcumin suppresses inflammation by inhibiting inflammation-causing enzymes (cytokines). This can help reduce joint pain without causing any side effects. You can include turmeric as a spice in meals or can have it with a cup of warm milk.
