A Setback for Trump from the US Court

Disturbing declarations from Trump are making waves in the realm of international relations.

This week, the US Homeland Secretary declared the revocation of Harvard's Student and Exchange Visitor Program, preventing it from enrolling new international students and stating that current students must transfer to continue their education.

In a series of events since January, the Trump administration cut a significant grant to Harvard and subsequently accused the university of fostering violence, anti-Semitism, and harboring hostile foreign nationals. Nevertheless, a US court on Thursday this week instructed Trump's administration to refrain from making any alterations to Harvard's student visa program indefinitely.

District court judge Allison Burroughs ordered the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department to uphold the "status quo" and permit Harvard to continue accommodating international students on visas at this time. Nonetheless, it appears that Trump will seek alternative methods to impose his terms and conditions on universities including Harvard.

In another crucial development, the Trump administration has faced a judicial setback this week regarding its tariff policies. A US trade court ruled this week against the implementation of Donald Trump's proposed 'Liberation Day' import tariffs, concluding that the President had overstepped his authority by imposing blanket duties on countries that export more to the US than they import.
