400 Rescued After Monorail Breaks Down in Mumbai

Amid torrential rains and a third red alert in Mumbai, a monorail broke down near Mysore Colony on Tuesday, triggering a major rescue operation.
Amid persistent heavy rainfall in the city, a monorail train near Mysore Colony station broke down due to a power supply failure on Tuesday evening, prompting a swift rescue operation by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), fire brigade and police.
Around 400 passengers were successfully rescued safely.
BMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Amit Saini said rescue teams were on-site, with three snorkel vehicles deployed to evacuate stranded passengers. The train came to a halt at 6:15 pm between Chembur and Bhakti Park stations.
While efforts were underway to ensure safe evacuation, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) stated that services between Wadala and Chembur were running on a single line and normal operations would be restored soon.
