Petrol price drops are a mirage
The Citizen
|September 01, 2025
The recently announced petrol price reduction of 15 or 16c per litre for September is just one of many tallies that don't really lower the price of fuel to the point of the lower international price now in the mid-$60 per barrel.

Gaining freedom, but at what cost?
In 1972 Idi Amin, after butchering thousands of Ugandans, gave all Asians – which included Pakistanis and Indians – 90 days to leave the country.
They were the backbone of the economy; Amin gave their businesses to his friends and cadres, which threw the country into an economic collapse.
Robert Mugabe gave the majority of the farms in Zimbabwe to his friends and cohorts which turned the country into a dust bowl, no longer able to sustain his people with food.
Looking at SA since 1994, our so-called democracy has directly cost the country billions in corruption and so-called freedom.
The majority of the people have had to endure untold poverty because of the collapse of many large companies, pushing the unemployment rate to the heavens, with the result that crime has now become an industry.
