If your body doesn't have enough magnesium, you may have muscle cramps, sugar cravings, fatigue, heart palpitations, nervousness, anaemia, anxiety, poor circulation, difficulty relaxing the muscles and menstrual cramps, to name but a few.

Magnesium and calcium work together in the body. Magnesium is needed for expanding or dilating the blood vessels in the heart and calcium is required for closing the vessels.

Therefore, a shortage in magnesium results in an incorrect balance of dilation and contraction of the vessels, and may result in a heart spasm.

A shortage of magnesium in the body has also been associated with high blood pressure.
