One of the most sickening quotes of the week came from an ANC Youth League secretary in Gauteng who, crowing about the appointments of league members to the boards of provincial hospitals, said the "Young Lions have received their share".

The Young Lions is the nickname of the youth league from the time of Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo but, in this context, the phrase conjures up an image of predators feeding on a carcass... that of the taxpayer.
At least eight youth leaguers — and other ANC favourites — have been "deployed" to the boards of hospitals in Gauteng, where they can earn upwards of R10 000 per meeting they attend, according to the Sunday Times.
